Coping with the Coronavirus
In order to help each other in the village during these strange times , the Parish Meeting with the participation of the villagers, has drawn up plans to supply support to its villager should they self isolate either because of the virus or vulnerability.
Using the parish email contact list, villagers were asked to volunteer their services should others require help with shopping etc. Over 35% of the households have volunteered so far.
Having got a list t of volunteers, the village was broken down into four zones or areas and volunteers who lived within that area were allocated accordingly. This means that when help is needed it is kept to a manageable distance rather than having volunteers crisscrossing the village. It was recognised that individual villagers may have already made arrangements with friends but if that breaks down because they too have to self isolate then this plan would be put into action.
The village will be kept up to date by email on those who are self isolating and new volunteers who are coming forward. Villagers are being encouraged to communicate by phone or Skype/ facetime etc, with those in isolation as it will undoubtedly be a difficult time for them, especially those who live alone.
It is hoped that we never have to use these plans but it is best to be safe rather than sorry.
